The portable Spa Shell - made of highly robust synthetic material, the Sunbelt
Spa is manufactured in different layers. The Microban (an antibacterial substance),
is used in the exterior layer. Different polyester layers make the construction
especially strong. Microban is used to prevent bacterial growth that produces
unpleasant odours and leaves stains on the Hydro-Massage Spa. This life long
lasting, odorless,colourless and tasteless ingredient has been used in
manufacturing all Fonteyn Sunbelt Spas.
Shell:
Normally spa shells are made with the system shown on the left, which is acrylic with
polyester and with vinylester in between - which is a kind of resin and works like
glue to keep the two together. This has disadvantages in that:-
1) The shells lack strength.
2) Manufacture is bad for the environment because of styrenes (gas) which is
released from the vinylester and is extremely hazardous for people who
manufacture this part of the Spa.
3) The spa shells on the right require manual work, should the person forget a
small corner of the spa you can get osmoses developing and then you need a new
spa!
All Sunbelt portable Spas use the system on the right. This is Acrylic, melted
together with ABS with Acrylobound increasing the strength of the shell.
Advantages:-
1)The shell is a lot stronger.
2)Manufacture is a lot better for the environment and the staff.
3)Osmoses is not possible.
